So,it was at Rewa, the then capital of the erstwhile province of Vindhya Pradesh in Central India, that this traveler became aware of beautiful surroundings rushing past the carriage which moved ahead without any time-table or planning. Many-many hundreds of thousands of lives in India are bound to complete their journey of life that way.Bound,by their own lack of calculating trend of their minds, by extreme faith in their own God or Gods and in lady luck's favors to be bestowed in future and above all by family or cast traditions. 'Are,Judge ka larka hai,Kanoon to parhega hi.....' (Oh,'He is son of a Judge, surely he is going to study Law')-was the famous comment which almost every visitor of family said, using different words, to please my mother and which annoyed her the most.Whatever was to be the future of their children, the parents of Kayastha community-the cast which I belong- always arranged for best available education according to their means.
